Aviation fuel

Aviation Fuel Service

We arrange aviation fuel service (Jet a1, AV Gas) at all our locations very fast and competitive. Volnovka fuel contract not only-but also is a part of the service that goes hand-in-hand with other ramp ground activity. Aviation fuel arrangements and the uplift supervision process is considered by our company to be a part of the services we offer to our customers.

Each day, our highly trained and dedicated staff safely and efficiently refuel more than 6,000 aircraft in more than 55 countries globally

Working over the years on aviation fuel market, Volnovka offers a total fuel management. Being our customer, above all our crew will attain all your aviation fuel service’s needs:

  • Volume discounts
  • Uplift supervisory and personal attention

Known for our safety culture and strict product quality and handling procedures throughout the supply chain, our customers trust in the performance and quality of our fuels.

Our fuel is available at 800 locations worldwide, all regularly audited so our customers can be confident that they operate at or above global standards.

Sustainable aviation fuel

One way to make a material reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over the lifecycle of the fuel is to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in place of regular jet.

Our sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is produced from sustainable, renewable feedstocks such as used cooking oil and other wastes. SAF can drop straight in to existing infrastructure and an aircraft. It is approved for use in jet engines with no technical changes to aircraft necessary.

How is Sustainable Aviation Fuel produced?

  • SAF is made by converting sustainable material such as certain vegetable oils, recycled cooking oil or solid household waste to a high-quality synthetic product which is then blended with regular jet fuel.
  • SAF gives a reduction of up to 80% in CO2 emissions depending on the sustainable material used, production method and the supply chain to the airport.
  • In 2018 Air BP created a strategic partnership with Fulcrum BioEnergy with an initial investment of $30 million.
  • Tested, certified and approved for use in commercial airlines around the world, Fulcrum’s product will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over its lifecycle compared to traditional petroleum jet fuel. What’s more, it also helps reduce landfill waste.

Jet fuel

Jet fuel – or kerosene - is used in all turbine-powered aircraft.

Almost all jet fuels are derived from crude oil in refineries and are manufactured to tightly controlled specifications. Jet fuels typically account for around 6% of total global refinery fuel production

We supply the following jet fuels to commercial and military customers: Jet A-1 conforming to Aviation Fuel Quality Requirements for Jointly Operated Systems (AFQRJOS) and follows stringent Defence Standard 91-091 requirements and ASTM D1655 specifications.

Aviation gasoline (Avgas)

Our high-quality Avgas is manufactured to strict specifications. It is designed to deliver safe and reliable operation in spark ignition aviation piston engines

Our focus on aviation safety means we provide dedicated aviation fuel.

How is Avgas produced?

  • Most certified spark ignition piston engine aircraft are designed to operate solely on Avgas.
  • Raw refinery gasoline streams undergo specialist processes to produce the necessary high-octane components for this highly-refined narrow-cut aviation fuel.
  • The octane enhancement additive TEL-B is used if required by the specification.
  • A coloured dye is used to differentiate Avgas grades from regular gasoline and other aviation fuels.
  • Antioxidant is added to give excellent storage stability for long term use.

Unleaded Avgas grade UL91

UL91 is suitable for around 55% of planes and is available at specific airports in Russia, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and France

It has an assured energy content with no alcohols or ethers which may reduce aircraft range.

It has a fixed volatility range and is designed to work year-round without seasonal variations. It is better for your aircraft as it contains no ethanol which can damage aircraft fuel system components.

We are working with the aviation industry on an unleaded Avgas to replace the most popular 100LL grade. We will continue to supply Avgas 100LL until a suitable alternative is found.

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) give information on the safe handling and storage of all our products

The purpose of an SDS is to ensure that all workers who handle chemicals have the hazard information they need to safely use, handle and store them.

The required information consists of:

Product identifier used on the label and any other common names or synonyms by which the substance is known.

Name, address, phone number of the manufacturer, importer, or other responsible party, and emergency phone number.

Recommended use of the chemical (e.g., a brief description of what it actually does, such as flame retardant) and any restrictions on use (including recommendations given by the supplier).
